thetombkeeper - First meeting
Feb. 15th, 2023 07:42 ammoonlightshine[The entire school was buzzing with news of a new student. Some were claiming he was from a far away land, others said he was from the port city of Domino. There were whispers that he was handsome beyond all reason, and some that claimed that he was secretly a model, trying to live a "normal" life. When teenagers were bored and faced with meeting someone new, their imaginations ran wild.
As for Usagi, she was curious about the new student. Ami-chan had heard he was smart, and she was sure Mako-chan would likely swoon and say they reminded her of her ex-boyfriend.
Funny enough, said new student was placed in her class: Ishtar, Marik. A boy that was certainly taller than her (but then again who wasn't?), with beautiful hair and eyes of lavender. He did have a bit of an intimidating aura about him, but Usagi thought that was him being nervous. He placed to sit next to Ami-chan to help him catch up with class. A very good call on Haruna-sensei's part since Ami-chan always had the best notes...
Usagi would know, she had to borrow them a few times when a lesson didn't make sense.
By the time lunch came around, Usagi was left with a few choices: eat at her desk, find Naru-chan and sit with her or...introduce herself to Marik. Ami-chan and Mako-chan were busy with their respective clubs, so she couldn't have lunch with them for today so...
She found herself standing by his desk, giving him a friendly smile.]
Hi, I'm Tsukino, Usagi. I hope your first day is going well. I, um, wanted to find out if you had any plans for lunch? [He probably did. She already heard a few girls in their class murmur about trying to get know him over sweets or something.]

Holding his hand…it does feel really nice.
Wait—Usagi! Don’t let your mind wander!
She slowly pulls her hand back and shyly averts her gaze. They were coming up on her house soon. Lunar was already waiting for her, resting on top of a tree branch. ]
A-ah, well, I’ve known Naru-chan since grade school. Then last year, Ami-chan and Mako-chan transferred. We also met Rei-chan, and Mina-chan around the same time. We kind of bumped into each other…and became friends.
[Thats a very…simple way of putting it.]
D-did I tell you that Mina-chan lived in England for a time? She says it’s nice there but the food is okay.

[He listens to Usagi tell him about her friends. Strange how things like that work out. He hasn't sure what she grade school is but he assumes she means they've known each other for quite a few years now.
As they get in view of the house, Marik spots the cat in the tree but doesn't think anything of it for the time being.]
Did she? That's impressive. She knows English then?

[Of course he is! He’s speaking Japanese and probably knows other languages!
Ahh, all of her friends are smarter than her. She really needed to study harder. ]
Yes, she does! I can’t remember why she was in England, but she came back to Japan last year.
[Luna stared at the young boy walking with her charge but didn’t make an issue of it. He was keeping a respectful distance and not doing anything. Hmm…guess Usagi made a new friend?]
Either way, when I first met her, she looked like a model. All this confidence and poise, and smart clothes. [Okay, in reality, she was excited because Minako was Sailor V and she was a big fan, but it’s still more or less true. ]
You kind of remind me of her, in a way.

Maybe her parents wanted her studying abroad?
[As Usagi describes Minako, the similarities aren't lost in him. Marik scratches his cheek sheepishly.]
Eheheh. You think? It's been flattering to hear that people think I'm good looking enough for that... Maybe I could get a career in it someday.

Date: 2023-02-21 06:03 pm (UTC)[Clearly Usagi is impressed. Why does he think he doesn’t compare to his siblings? He’s clearly very well educated! It won’t be long until he’s blown past everyone in their grade—except for Ami, maybe. ]
I think that was it, or her parents had work out there and then they came back here. [There was a shrug of her shoulders. ]
I bet you could! And if you decide to pursue it, I would be cheering you on. [Not like an actual cheerleader but, being there to be that shoulder for him to lean on. Or someone to talk to.
They were getting closer to her house, close enough for Luna to make herself known by hopping down from one branch to the next and the next until she was perched on Usagi’s shoulder. She stood there looking proud of herself and purring as her charge was finally home. ]
Ahh, Luna… [The blonde couldn’t help but start to pet her cat’s head. ] sorry if she startled you, Luna is my cat. Luna, say hi to Marik-chan.
[The black cat looked him over, and managed a small bow of her head before nuzzling her charge’s cheek. Was it her imagination or was she sending something about Marik? ]
It was great walking with you, Marik-Kun. I’ll see you tomorrow?

Date: 2023-02-21 07:31 pm (UTC)[A lot of it has to do with their age. They're far older than him and didn't resent everything they were being taught. He will catch up eventually though now that he wants to make up for everything he's done wrong.
Marik's cheeks flush a bit again as she tells him she'll be cheering him on. It would have to be after they help the Pharaoh discover his true identity. The only thing he's concerned about is the markings on his back and whether people would find that disturbing.
The Egyptian watches once Luna starts moving, somewhat surprised she belongs to Usagi. He bows his head in return. One has to be respectful of cats. They were the children of Bastet, after all.
... There's something about her though that Marik can't quite put his finger on. Outside of the strange moon shape on her forehead. He does his best not to stare.]
Hello, Luna.
[His smile reforms as he returns his attention to Usagi.]
It was. I'll send you a text when I get home. Thank you again for today.
[And with a casual little wave of his hand, Marik heads back to his place to tell Odion about his first day of school - and of course text Usagi.]
